Position Summary:
The main responsibility of the community manager will involve creating and implementing plans to accomplish two primary objectives: enhancing audience commitment and maintaining the involvement of Vox’s most devoted audience members.
Their primary objective is to assist in the growth of Vox’s membership program by converting casual readers into paying contributors and sustaining the active participation of these members, making Vox a part of their daily routine.
The newsroom’s audience team will collaborate closely with various individuals from the editorial team, consumer revenue team, and product team. They will be stationed in the newsroom and will work together with these teams.
The position is responsible for reporting to the Executive Director of Audience & Membership.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Overseeing the strategy for engaging and retaining contributors and members through the newsletter, which includes:
- Creating and producing emails for members with exclusive behind-the-scenes information about Vox’s coverage on important moments, themes, or franchises
- Producing a monthly newsletter exclusively for members to give them an opportunity to learn about Vox journalists and gain insight into our journalistic process
- Collaborating with the consumer revenue team to develop email strategies aimed at converting one-time contributors and audience members into monthly recurring contributors
- Managing the segments and lists for Vox’s newsletters and devising strategies to retain subscribers
- Formulating best practices for email engagement and retention
- Devising and implementing special benefits for Vox members, such as exclusive behind-the-scenes content, Q&As with Vox journalists, comment discussions, virtual events, and more
- Overseeing comments and other forms of community engagement on Vox.com and Vox’s social media platforms, including YouTube and Instagram
- Working with Vox Media’s head of community product to test new community features and experiments, assessing their effectiveness and determining which features should be incorporated into Vox’s long-term audience strategies.
IDENTITY
- Proficient in community management, including chat moderation, Q&A sessions, and virtual events
- Familiarity with Sailthru is a bonus for email and newsletter production and planning, but not necessary
- Excellent writing abilities, with a preference for previous copywriting experience
- Innovative thinking and ability to propose and implement novel ideas for community engagement
- Enthusiasm for interacting with audiences
- Familiarity with Vox’s editorial mission.

TRANSPARENCY IN PAY
The salary range provided below indicates the lowest and highest base pay for this role as of the date of this announcement. The final salary given to the chosen candidate will be determined by various factors, such as the individual’s abilities and background.

The amount is $88,000 to $90,000 USD.
