POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Annual Giving plays a crucial role in Royal Ontario Museum Governors’ fundraising strategy, reporting to the Vice President of Donor Engagement & Experience.

The growth of our Annual Fund portfolio heavily relies on this position, which entails strategic planning, overseeing, and execution of our annual giving initiatives.

The position also entails the responsibility of creating and implementing the donor journey for every segment of the Annual Fund. The perfect candidate should possess extensive experience in fundraising and a proven ability to grow Annual Giving portfolios through innovation.

Professionals must possess a comprehensive comprehension of the most effective techniques for annual donations, market trends, customer relationship management strategies, data analysis, and online advertising.

The position of Director of Annual Giving will hold a crucial role within the Donor Experience & Engagement team, playing a major part in our efforts to raise funds for ROM’s key initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee the Annual Giving Portfolio for Royal Ontario Museum Governors: Develop and oversee the Annual Giving portfolio to meet the financial and fundraising targets set in the annual plan.

Create and implement a thorough plan utilizing extensive knowledge of yearly donation trends, changes in the charitable environment, and expertise in donor engagement.

Design and execute CRM tactics, such as segmentation, creating pathways for donors, and maintaining lists. Supervise the process of deploying e-solicitation, which involves testing, analyzing, measuring, and reporting.

Act as the representatives of Governors both within the organization and externally, engaging with ROM Executive, government officials, donors, and patrons.

Oversee and enhance the yearly allocation of donations. Build and Cultivate Interdepartmental Connections. Form and sustain strong connections with ROM and ROM Governors stakeholders in order to ensure consistency with the brand, improve appeal timing, and maintain strategic alignment.

As a seasoned leader and skilled relationship manager, I aim to strengthen and maintain strong connections with multiple intricate departments. My responsibilities include identifying, engaging, and guiding external committees and agencies. I will effectively oversee and collaborate with external partners and advisors to facilitate the development and implementation of campaigns.

In order to effectively manage cross-functional teams, it is crucial to have clear communication, well-defined roles, and efficient project management. The required skills and abilities for this role include extensive experience in Annual Giving and a minimum of six years of progressive experience in overseeing Annual Giving portfolios and campaigns.

Educational Background:

A university degree in a relevant field, such as fundraising, or equivalent experience, is required.

Technical Expertise:

The candidate must possess knowledge and experience in using fundraising software, such as Raiser’s Edge and RE NXT, as well as CRM platforms like MailChimp. Additionally, familiarity with web analytics tools like Google Analytics is preferred.

The individual has shown proficiency in strategic thinking and creative problem-solving, as well as strong planning abilities. These skills are complemented by exceptional organizational and project management capabilities.

Communication and Interpersonal Abilities: Outstanding communication skills and a professional demeanor are crucial for successful engagement with diverse stakeholders. Demonstrated abilities in both verbal and written communication.

Proficiency in leadership and management: Skilled in overseeing various stakeholders, both internal and external, to achieve project objectives and meet deadlines.

Demonstrating resourcefulness and independence, I possess the capability to effectively handle a variety of tasks, while ensuring timely completion and meticulous attention to detail, consistently following through on each assignment.

Having experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT can be beneficial. The ability to attend after-hours events and meetings is important for a flexible schedule.
